Chrysler Is Recalling 1.2 Million Ram Trucks

Chrysler has announced that they are going to be recalling 1.2 million trucks that could have issues with loss of steering.  The trucks in question are 2003 – 2008 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks along with 2008-2012 2500/3500/4500/5500 models and Ram 1500 4×4 Mega Cab 2008 vehicles.  The tie rods in the trucks may have been installed incorrectly during the assembly process.  This could result in a possible fracture on around 453,500 of the recalled vehicles.

The Chrysler dealerships will replace the tie rod assemblies on the affected vehicles starting January 2014.  There were six accidents caused by this issue, which led to two injuries from 2008-2012 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks.

Not all of the owners will be able to get the parts replaced in January, but they can get servicing before that.  People that have Ram 4500 and Ram 5500 models will have to wait until next year for the parts.  The owners of these vehicles can go to their nearest dealership to get the tie rods inspected for misalignment.
