Pinterest Launches Japanese Version
Pinterest, the popular link-sharing social network, raised over $330 million in total venture capital funding and is using part of that funding to expand globally. Pinterest has now launched a Japanese version of their service. One of Pinterest’s largest investors is Rakuten, a Japanese e-commerce company. Rakuten led a $100 million round in Pinterest back in May 2012. Pinterest added the Japanese language and added several subcategories to their website that focuses on hair styles, paper crafts, and other hobbies that is popular in Japan. Pinterest also has a localized version of their website and mobile app in the U.K., France, and Italy.
