The big four telecommunications companies in the U.S. are in a race to see who can get and retain the most subscribers.  Each of them have launched various plans that may or may not require a contract.  Now Verizon is offering a $5 daily data plan for tablets and other connected devices.  This plan serves up to 300MB of data.

The plan lasts for 24 hours or until you hit the 300MB limit.  There are no activation fees.  This plan can come in handy while waiting to board a plane or while sitting in the backseat of a long road trip.

“While many tablet users choose to connect to the Internet via a Wi-Fi connection in their home, airport or hotel, many people are discovering times that a cellular network connection is needed or desired,” stated Verizon in a blog post. “For example, if Wi-Fi isn’t available in a specific location or the security of a public Wi-Fi network is questionable, cellular is the way to go.”
