Apple retail stores gets iBeacon for personalized notifications

Apple has integrated iBeacon into 254 of their retail stores in the U.S. in order to give personalized notifications to customers through the Apple Store app.

The notifications are sent based on your exact position within the store. Apple detects your exact location using Bluetooth and they can send more details based on the product you are looking at. iBeacon is not turned on by default. Users will be asked to accept a request before it is activated.

Major League Baseball (MLB) will be using iBeacon next year to customize a fan’s experience while at a ballpark through the “At The Ballpark” app.
