Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) surpasses 45 Superchargers

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is about to hit a major milestone in terms of Superchargers. The company has hit 47 Superchargers total. Tesla Superchargers allows Model S owners to travel free between cities along North America and Europe. They provide half a charge in around 20 minutes for a Model S vehicle and are strategically placed to let owners drive from station to station with minimal stops. The Superchargers are located at roadside stops and shopping centers to allow the driver to multitask.
Within the past month, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) opened Superchargers in St. Joseph, Michigan and opened up a Supercharger triangle in the Waco area of Texas. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) also opened a Supercharger in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Around five more will be built in Wisconsin soon as construction has started there.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has 39 open Superchargers in North America and 8 open in Europe. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has Superchargers open in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Connecticut, Florida, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. In Europe, they have Superchargers covering Norway and two in the Netherlands. Back in October, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk also said that he wants to cover 50% of Germany by April 2014.

Based on the maps, you will notice that Tesla hopes to have the entire area of the United States covered by the end of 2015. A large portion of Canada and Mexico should also be ready by then.
