William Morris Endeavor hires former Microsoft CFO Peter Klein as finance head
William Morris Endeavor (WME), one of the largest talent agencies in the U.S., has hired Peter Klein. Klein worked at Microsoft from 2002 until April 2013. Once WME completes the acquisition of IMG Worldwide, Klein will become the CFO of that agency as well.
One of WME’s largest backers is Silver Lake. Klein got to know some of the executives at Silver Lake when Microsoft acquired Skype from them and when Microsoft worked with the private equity firm to back Michael Dell’s acquisition of Dell Inc. Silver Lake owns 31% of WME and 51% of the combined WME and IMG agency.
WME is led by co-chief executives Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell. “Peter’s impressive track record and international experience will be a tremendous asset as we begin a new and exciting chapter in our company’s history,” said Whitesell and Emanuel in a statement. “Peter’s proven ability to structure and manage teams on a global scale, and bring rigor and organizational effectiveness to businesses large and small, will help to strengthen both WME and IMG.”
