This year, Apple quietly acquired a note-taking app company called Catch and hired staff behind the BroadMap mapping company. Apple did not disclose anything about these two companies, but the LinkedIn profiles for many previous staff members are listed as currently working at Apple. BroadMap offers geographic information systems (GIS) and digital mapping data product services. Catch, a note-taking app, shut down in August and was acquired around the same time. Apple made around 15 acquisitions in 2013, including Passif Semiconductor, WiFiSLAM, Locationary, and HopStop.
