Nokia removes HERE Maps from App Store due to lack of iOS 7 optimization

Nokia has removed the HERE Maps app from the Apple App Store because it was not optimized for iOS 7. If you are interested in using HERE Maps, you can still access the web version. Nokia’s HERE Maps app was neglected in the Apple App Store in favor of Windows Phone. Nokia initially ported HERE Maps from a Symbian version, but it was poor in quality with a lot of bugs.

“We have made the decision to remove our HERE Maps app from the Apple App Store because recent changes to iOS 7 harm the user experience. iPhone users can continue to use the mobile web version of HERE Maps under m.here.com., offering them core location needs, such as search, routing, orientation, transit information and more, all completely free of charge,” said Nokia in a statement.

However, Nokia later clarified that the app was removed because it was not optimized for iOS 7 rather than the recent changes in Apple’s software.
