Google is shutting down Bump and Flock
Google has shut down Bump and Flock, a couple of file-sharing apps that the search giant acquired last fall. Bump and Flockr will be shutting down by the end of the month. Bump and Flock will be removed from Google Play and the Apple App Store on January 31st. Bump Technologies makes both Bump and Flock and they announced the shut-down on their blog.
Bump lets users tap their phones together for sharing contacts and files. Bump raised around $20 million in funding prior to the acquisition.
Although the Bump app was downloaded many times, the app had a hard time generating substantial revenues. Flock is a photo-sharing application that Bump launched in 2012.
Google reportedly acquired Bump Technologies for around $35 million in funding.
