Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has made several major announcements today. Ford has announced that the Sync AppLink system will be extended to 3.4 million vehicles. This is relevant to vehicles that have older generations of Ford Sync. Owners of 2010 model year cars can download Sync AppLink and load the app integration into their vehicles.
Owners can also have dealers do the software upgrade. Sync AppLink supports the integration of over 60 apps that run on Android or iOS. Some of the apps that are supported include Pandora, Glympse, and MOG. Unfortunately, Sync AppLink is not compatible with MyFord Touch.

Ford U.S. sales in 2013
Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) also announced that sales in the U.S. jumped 11% in 2013 to around 2.5 million, which is a six-year high. This is largely due to a strong economy that led to an increase in pick-up truck sales.

Ford sold 763,402 F-Series pickups in 2013, which is up 18% over 2012. Every one out of three vehicles that Ford sold in the U.S. was a F-Series.

Ford sold a record number of Fusion sedans, Escape SUVs, and Fiesta subcompacts. However, the sales of the Lincoln luxury brand was flat for the year. The Lincoln MKZ sedan sales were up 15%, but other Lincoln vehicles saw a loss in sales.
