PopCap CEO Dave Roberts is retiring
PopCap Games CEO Dave Roberts is retiring, effective January 8th. PopCap co-founder John Vechey will be taking over the job of running the PopCap studio. PopCap is known for creating the games Plants vs. Zombies and Bejeweled.
Vechey will be the last active co-founder in PopCap since Jason Kapalka is also stepping down. However, Kapalka will remain as a creative consultant.
EA acquired PopCap for around $750 million in 2011. PopCap was founded in 2000 by Vechey, Kapalka, and Brian Fiete.
The company had around 400 employees before the acquisition took place. Roberts joined PopCap in 2005 and helped them expand into a larger company. In 2010, PopCap reported revenues at over $100 million.
