Michigan Tech University researchers hunt for time travelers on Twitter

The headline for this article may sound like we are joking, but we are not. Researchers at Michigan Technological University are using Twitter to look for time travelers on Twitter. The study, known as “Searching the Internet for evidence of time travelers,” has been completed. It was submitted by two researchers on December 26th on ArXiv. The authors are Robert Nemiroff (physics professor) and Teresa Wilson (PhD candidate). The research team looked for mentions of two terms such as “comet ISON” and “Pope Francis” before the terms were heavily used in the media on September 21, 2012 and March 16, 2013, respectively.
