MakerBot announces Replicator Mini and PrintShop

MakerBot Replicator Mini
The MakerBot Replicator Mini was announced at CES on Monday. The MakerBot Replicator Mini lets users print small 3D objects in a few steps. 3D models can be created and modified through the MakerBot PrintShop and it can be sent to the Replicator Mini printer.

The Replicator Mini can print objects that are under five inches high. It will cost $1,375 and is going to ship this print. The Makerbot Mini will require less manual setup and it can optimize the speed that models are printed.

There is a networked camera inside of the Replicator Mini that can capture images of the printing process and share them on social networks. The Replicator Mini prints objects using 200 micron layers and doubles the thickness of layers produced by the $2,899 Makerbot Replicator desktop 3D printer.

The Makerbot digital store lets you buy 3D blueprints for models that can be printed out with prices that range at between 99 cents for a small toy to $9.99 for figurine collections.
