Flurry: Mobile app usage has increased 115% last year
The usage of mobile apps has increased by 115% in 2013, according to Flurry. All of the categories tracked by Flurry grew in usage over the past year. Utility apps and productivity apps increased 149%. Music and entertainment apps increased 78% and games increased 66%. Messaging and social apps climbed 203%.
The messaging and social app growth was largely attributed to apps like SnapChat, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, Line, and KakaoTalk. Flurry tracked 4.7 billion apps sessions on December 31, 2013 at 11:59PM, which is a one-day record. The company saw a total of 1.12 trillion sessions in 2013.
Flurry’s analytics services are available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and other mobile platforms. Flurry reaches about 1.2 billion devices per month and records an average of 3.5 billion app sessions per day.
