Nextbit Systems is a mobile startup that has raised $18 million in Series A funding led by Accel Partners and Google Ventures. Rich Miner of Google Ventures and Rich Wong of Accel Partners are joining the board of directors at Nextbit. Nextbit’s founders were Tom Moss and Mike Chan. Both of them were EIRs at Accel Partners.

Tom was the co-founder and CEO of Three Laws Mobility (acquired by Motorola). Tom was also an executive (Worldwide Head of Business Development and Partnerships for Android) at Google. Chan was the first employee at 3LM. Before working at 3LM, Mike worked on Power Management on Android. Both Mike and Tom received Founder’s Awards at Google for work on Android.

“What got me interested in Nextbit right away was the quality of the team and their ambition for the product. I have known the founders and many of the engineers since the early days of Android, and if there is any team that can pull off such an ambitious vision, it’s this team,” stated Miner.

Nextbit is hiring engineers for their office in San Francisco.
