Microsoft employee e-mails were hacked by Syrian Electronic Army
The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) and Microsoft have not been getting along. The SEA previously hacked Microsoft’s Twitter accounts and now they have gained access to employee e-mail accounts. No customer information was compromised by the hack.
“A social engineering cyberattack method known as phishing resulted in a small number of Microsoft employee social media and email accounts being impacted,” stated a Microsoft spokesperson. “These accounts were reset and no customer information was compromised.”
One of the passwords of the e-mail accounts was “Microsoft3.”
“A Microsoft employee wanted to make his password more stronger, so he changed it from ‘Microsoft2’ to ‘Microsoft3’ #happened,” wrote the SEA on Twitter. The SEA said that they are not done messing with Microsoft yet and is planning to do another attack on them soon.
“We didn’t finish our attack on @Microsoft yet, stay tuned for more! #SEA,” added the SEA.
