Paramount is no longer distributing movies on film
Paramount Pictures is no longer shipping films on 35-millimeter film, according to the LA Times. Paramount is the first big studio to stop releasing films in this format in the U.S. The first film to be distributed in a digital-only format was The Wolf Of Wall Street.
The last film to be distributed on 35-mm film was Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Other studios may not abandon film yet because only some movie theaters can only support film.
Digital distribution is cheaper though. Film prints may cost as much as $2,000 while digital copies on discs cost under $100. There is only 8% of the theaters in the U.S. that cannot support the digital formats out of the 40,045 screens in the U.S.
