Justin.TV is being renamed to Twitch Interactive
Justin.tv is the parent company of Twitch. Since Twitch is growing in popularity as a brand, Justin.tv is going to be renamed to Twitch Interactive. Twitch Interactive will be the parent company of Justin.TV and Twitch from now on.
Twitch Interactive launched the service as a separate brand in June 2011 after they started broadcasting e-sports tournaments on Justin.tv.
Twitch is now hitting around 1 million unique active broadcasters, 6 million streams, 45 million unique viewers every month, and is hitting 13 billion minutes of gameplay.
The PlayStation 4 has Twitch streaming integrated and they will be followed by the Xbox One. Justin.tv will not be shut down.
“As Twitch has continued to grow as the leader of the video game streaming space, it has eclipsed our previous initiatives,” stated Twitch CEO and founder Emmet Shear. “Given our total focus on serving the gaming community it makes sense to reposition it as our primary brand.”
