eBay founder Pierre Omidyar launches The Intercept
Pierre Omidyar, the billionaire founder behind eBay, has launched a new online publication called The Intercept. This is the first online website from First Look Media (FLM). The first story on the website was about the NSA and drone attacks.
The publication will cover several industries and topics. The Intercept will “hold the most powerful governmental and corporate factions accountable.”
Former Guardian writer Glenn Greenwald is on the board at the company as editor. The publication also has a twelve person team, which includes film-maker Laura Poitras and investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill.
The publication will initially focus on NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, but will expand in the long run.
