Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) is reportedly negotiating with the music labels

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is reportedly in talks with the record labels about launching a music streaming service. The discussions are in the early stages. If Amazon launches a music streaming service, it would be competing against Pandora, Spotify, Rdio, Beats Music, and Google Play Music All Access.

Amazon would likely include music streaming as part of the Amazon Prime subscription. Amazon is rumored to be increasing the annual cost of Amazon Prime by as much as $40.

Amazon.com already offers movies and TV shows through Amazon Prime. Amazon is still far from making a deal with the music companies because executives are asking for steep discounts on the pricing that the labels have given to other services like Spotify and Rhapsody.
