Apple Inc. (AAPL) hires engineers in China from tech companies like HTC
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has gone on a hiring spree in China. Apple has especially hired a lot of talent from their rival HTC. Because of manufacturing conditions and a goal to ramp up hardware development with suppliers, Apple placed many engineering positions throughout China and Taiwan.
“Core research and development will remain in Cupertino,” said Apple in a statement to the WSJ. “The signature ‘Designed by Apple in California’ stamp will thus remain on our devices.”
Many of HTC’s former engineers found a new home at Apple. There are also rumors that Apple is going to build new phones with features that are popular in Android devices like larger screens with pressure sensitivity. Apple is also hiring talent from its suppliers like Inventec Corp. and Quanta Computer Inc. in order to advance their quality assurance.
