SendGrid has sent out around 200 billion e-mails
According to VentureBeat, SendGrid has sent over over 200 billion for all of their customers including Snapchat, Sonos, and Dwolla. That is only 100 billion less than the number of burgers that McDonalds has sold. SendGrid is now delivering a half billion new e-mails every day so it won’t be too long that SendGrid hits the 300 billion number.
SendGrid specializes in application e-mail. This means that the automated receipts that you receive when booking an Uber taxi is generated through SendGrid. If Spotify suggests new music through e-mail, SendGrid is responsible for sending it.
SendGrid Labs was formed in 2012 and is launching a new product called Loader.io, which is a load-testing service. Loader.io lets developers test cloud-based apps and APIs for load performance and scalability. There are over 15,000 SendGrid customers that use Loader.io.
There are six other SendGrid Labs projects that are being worked on. The next project to be released is Reflector.io, which is a notification system for developers.
SendGrid’s platform is an ecosystem for other companies to build “next ten” e-mail apps. For example, HubSpot and Pardot have built apps on SendGrid.
SendGrid said that the company is rapidly approaching $50 million in annual revenues. The company graduated from TechStars in 2009 and raised $27.4 million in funding from Bessemer Venture Partners, Foundry Group, Highway 12 Ventures, SoftTech VC, 500 Startups, Matt Mullenweg, David Cohen, and Tom Keller.
