General Motors Company (GM) breaks ground on new wind tunnel

In Warren, Michigan, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has broke ground on a new $30 million reduced-scale wind tunnel. This expands on GM’s aerodynamic testing facility on its Warren Technical Center campus.

This investment will improve test capabilities and support aerodynamic development that is critical to the GM CO2 compliance strategy. The new wind tunnel will add a 50% increase in reduced-scale testing capacity and a 25% increase in full-scale testing capacity. Up to five new jobs will be created through the new facility.

The new wind tunnel will use a moving ground plane to simulate full driving conditions, thus enabling higher fidelity aerodynamic testing.
