Goodyear has unveiled a new blimp (actually a zeppelin) is the company’s first new design in 45 years. The new airship was built at Goodyear’s Wingfoot Lake facility near Akron, Ohio. The construction took around a year.

It has no internal structure nor adjustable rotors. The airship was designed by Germany’s ZLT Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik. The airship is faster, more efficient, and easier to maneuver. The new blimp is 246 feet long and is over 50 feet longer than previous generation airships.

The new airship retains the traditional blue-and-yellow branding over a silver envelope. The new blimps can reach a top speed of 73 miles per hour, which is faster than the previous blimps of 50 miles per hour. Goodyear needs a name for the new blimps and is asking people to make suggestions. Goodyear blimps first took flight in 1925.
