Balderton Capital raises $305 million
Balderton Capital is a venture capital firm that has launched a $305 million startup fund. Balderton Capital will have a total of $2.2 billion in funds available, which will be largely focused on European technology companies.
“We really have refined our strategy,” stated Bernard Liautaud, a general partner at Balderton. “The environment [in Europe] is a lot more mature than it was maybe five years ago.”
Balderton Capital launched in in 2000 as part of Benchmark Capital. The company rebranded and went independent in 2007, according to the WSJ. Balderton is hoping to achieve a 20- to 40-fold return on this investment.
