Apple buys speech recognition company Novauris
Apple has acquired a company that improved speech recognition called Novauris. This acquisition would help Apple improve Siri. Novauris Technologies was founded in 2002 and worked on speech recognition since then. The speech recognition software is server-based and device-based.
Novauris is well known for delivering voice-recognition services on-device, which allows for faster responses to queries. What Siri does is taking a query from the device, asks Apple’s servers for the answer, and then sends it back to the user’s device.
It is unknown what Novauris’ methods would entail. Novauris started working with Siri’s team last fall. TechCrunch called Novauris’ offices and someone answered “Apple.”
