Amazon has acquired digital comic book service Comixology
Amazon has announced that it will be acquiring digital comic book service Comixology. Founded in 2007, Comixology sells comic books and graphic novels from dozens of publishers. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Comixology users can read the comics or novels on the iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, and Windows 8 apps. Comixology hit around 200 million comic book downloads last year.
“Amazon and comiXology share a passion for reinventing reading in a digital world,” stated David Naggar, VP of content acquisition and independent publishing at Amazon. “We’ve long admired the passion comiXology brings to changing the way we buy and read comics and graphic novels. We look forward to investing in the business, growing the team, and together, bringing comics and graphic novels to even more readers.”
