Squarespace raises $40 million in funding
Squarespace is a company that offers tools for small businesses and individuals to quickly build websites and online stores. The company has raised $40 million in Series B funding entirely from General Atlantic. General Atlantic managing director Anton Levy is joining the Squarespace board of directors.
“This partnership with General Atlantic signals the scaling of our ambition – we will improve the overall Squarespace experience, make it available to more people around the world, and demonstrate a commitment to products that go beyond websites and online stores,” stated Squarespace founder and CEO Anthony Casalena.
Squarespace was started in 2003 and raised $38.5 million in Series A funding four years ago. The company has hundreds of thousands of customers that have created millions of websites. The company now has 285 employees.
