Map app company Citymapper raises $10 million in funding
Citymapper is a mapping app company that helps people figure out public transportation in large cities. The company has raised $10 million in Series A funding led by Balderton Capital with participation from Connect Ventures, Index Ventures and Greylock Partners.
When Citymapper launched out of London, it was known as Busmapper. Since Busmapper expanded beyond other forms of transportation, it was renamed. Now Citymapper covers subways, trams, ferries, and taxis.
The app has two signature buttons: “Get me home” and “Get me to work.” Once you select that option, it will pick the best transportation options for you.
In London, Citymapper has been downloaded on half of the iPhones in the city. The Citymapper expanded to Paris, Berlin, and New York since then. The new round of funding will go towards expansion into other metro areas.
