Work4 is an online recruitment startup that uses social networks for finding leads for jobs and advertising. The company has raised $7 million in funding to expand its product and reach outside of the U.S. This round of funding was led by Serena Capital with participation from existing investor Matrix Partners.

“We help them take advantage of social networks by turning platforms that weren’t designed for recruiting into powerful recruiting machines,” said Work4 co-founder and CEO Stéphane Le Viet says. “A site like Facebook is a place where companies can create lasting relationships.” And that also means, effectively, that companies can leverage that to do more. “You can turn consumers or fans into job candidates. Their fans can become their hires.”

Work4 works with thousands of companies like Gap, AIG, Intel, Groupon, and Hard Rock Cafe. The company launched in 2010 and was built around Facebook integration. The company is less dependent on Facebook now. Work4 also utilizes Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn.
Work4 has “shared” around 12 million jobs thus far, which is up 29-fold since June 2013. Around two-thirds of its traffic comes from the U.S. and the top two traffic sources are Facebook and Twitter.
