Sonos is a popular streaming music player company that is switching away from its wired network requirement. Sonos Bridge will be retired for most users in favor of WiFi. Sonos demanded at least one wired ethernet connection since it started through a single speaker (Bridge). Sonos creates its own proprietary mesh network between the rest of the speakers. SonosNet will rely on software bridging from the regular WiFi most people use in its homes to the mesh network that Sonos created. Sonos said previously that it could not rely on WiFi to accurately keep speakers its in-sync. Now individual speakers will talk directly to each other. Some users may still need a Bridge though.
