Google Inc (GOOGL) agrees to pay some Samsung liability costs
A lawyer at Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) lawyer testified on Tuesday that the search giant company has agreed to take over defense of some of the claims in Apple’s current patent lawsuit against Samsung. Google will compensate Samsung if it loses on some of those claims.
Google lawyer James Mccoun verified e-mails where Google agreed to provide compensation in regards to four patents. Google also agreed to take over the defense of those claims. Samsung did not provide any details about what claims Google was handling.
Apple sued Samsung for infringement of five patents and argued it should have to pay upwards of $2 billion. While Samsung said its products do not infringe Apple’s patents and that the patents invalid. Samsung said that if it is found to be infringing on Apple’s patents, then the damages should be much less.
