Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) reportedly paid $300 million for HBO deal
Yesterday Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and HBO announced a licensing agreement. Amazon Prime members will be able to watch HBO shows like “The Wire” and “The Sopranos” starting May 21.
How much did Amazon pay? Amazon is reportedly paying over $300 million over the course of the three-year deal, according to Re/Code.
Amazon recently increased the price of Amazon Prime to $99 per year and the HBO deal may convince subscribers to stick around. Amazon is going to be spending at least $1 billion to build up its content catalog.
