Kaltura is an open source video platform that has acquired pay TV service startup Tvinci. The terms of the deal were undisclosed. Tvinci runs a white-label platform offering paid-TV providers with over-the-top (OTT) TV services to deliver linear and on-demand TV content through different types of devices like smartphones, tablets, set-top boxes, and smart TVs.

Kaltura will be integrating this technology into its own services to allow clients to host, publish, monetize, and analyze video content across multiple industries. Before the Tvinci sale, Kaltura was focused on video-on-demand and advertising integration services.

Tvinci’s 60 employees will be joining Kaltura’s Israel-based technology team. Tvinci founders Ofer Shayo and Ido Wiesenberg will be placed in positions within Kaltura’s top management team. Since launching in 2006, Kaltura has raised a total of $116 million in funding thus far.
