Google Inc (GOOGL) launches Classroom tool for teachers to manage assignments
Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has announced a new free tool for teachers called Classroom. Classroom is a part of the Google Apps for Education suite of products. Classroom lets teachers create and organize assignments. It can also be used for providing feedback to students and communicate with classes. The service is still in preview-mode. Here is what the service offers:
– Create and collect assignments: Classroom weaves together Google Docs, Drive and Gmail to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly. They can quickly see who has or hasn’t completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback to individual students.
– Improve class communications: Teachers can make announcements, ask questions and comment with students in real time—improving communication inside and outside of class.
– Stay organized: Classroom automatically creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student. Students can easily see what’s due on their Assignments page.
Professors and teachers can apply for access to Classroom at classroom.google.com/signup. Classroom does not contain any ads, which is important because Google landed in hot water for scanning student data in the past.
