Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN): 10,000 robots will be deployed for customer orders by end of the year
Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) currently has around 1,000 robots that fulfill customer orders, designed by Kiva Systems. Amazon acquired Kiva for $775 million in 2012. According to CNN, Amazon plans to have 10,000 robots filling customer orders by the end of this year.
In fact, Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos revealed at a recent shareholder meeting that the company will be doubling down on robotics.
No humans will lose their jobs as the robotic workforce increases. The company will become much more efficient as part of the change.
