Samsonite acquires Speck for $85 million
You may recognize the brand name Samsonite as the company that makes baggage and luggage products. Samsonite has acquired mobile device case maker Speck for $85 million.
“The acquisition offers Samsonite the opportunity to participate in the large and growing smartphone-case market, which in the U.S. alone is estimated to be worth $2.3 billion, as well as in the tablet-case market, where Speck is also a leader,” said Samsonite America in an interview with Re/Code.
Speck used to be known for developing high end cases for iOS and Mac devices, but it expanded to Android devices recently.
