Facebook Inc (FB) now has 30 million small businesses with active Pages
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) director of small business Dan Levy has reported that the company now has 30 million small businesses with active Pages on the social network. This is up from 25 million from last November, which is when the social network first started to count SMBs using its current definition.
Facebook previously did not count e-commerce businesses that do not have brick-and-mortar stores. Levy shared this information during the press Q&A session at the Facebook Fit event. This event tours fie cities starting in New York.
Levy said that Facebook has been trying to pivot to be more “proactive.” The small business team initially just existed to review and approve ads, but now is working closely with SMBs to make sure that they have the information that they need.
Levy was asked about complaints regarding decline in organic search. Levy said that the decline is because of the increasing number of connections and updates, meaning there is more content that is competing for user attention. Levy said that Facebook ads will enable businesses to get the “predictable reach that they want.” Levy said that the SMB team will focus on building more tools for businesses. Levy added that 19 million of those small businesses with Pages are already active on mobile.
