Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) reportedly met with Nissan to discuss charging network cooperation
We already knew that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) met with BMW to discuss a plugin vehicle charger plan. Now we have found out that Tesla Motors also met with Nissan to cooperate on charging networks. The details are unknown about what was discussed.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed last week that the company met with BMW secretly to discuss topics of interests related to electric vehicles, including charging networks.
“Nissan welcomes any initiative to expand the volumes of electric vehicles. Nissan is the market leader in EVs and has worked with other manufacturers to help proliferate the technology,” reported The Financial Times. “Nissan, BMW and Tesla are keen to collaborate on creating possible global vehicle-charging standards, the sources said.”
Tesla believes that all automakers should adopt to a universal fast-charging standard. However, Tesla believes that other companies should adopt the Supercharger, but may be open to other solutions as well.
