International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) sells over 100 patents to Pure Storage
Pure Storage is a flash-storage company that is fighting with EMC over intellectual property in the courts. On Thursday, Pure Storage announced it acquired over 100 patents from International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM).
This significantly increases the number of patents that Pure Storage holds and said that its customers will benefit from its more “robust and strategic” portfolio.
Pure Storage said it would take the “moral high ground” in the use of its new intellectual property. IBM and Pure Storage did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, but said that it involves cross-licensing.
It is unknown whether Pure Storage would assert these patents against EMC or if it will help IBM with flash-storage initiatives.
