Rumor: Apple Inc. (AAPL) has recruited pro athletes to test out iWatch
Last month, Los Angeles Lakers basketball player Kobe Bryant was spotted at the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) campus. Bryant was reportedly on campus to help Apple test out the iWatch device, according to 9to5Mac. 9to5Mac also claims that Apple has been recruiting pro athletes to test out the iWatch. The iWatch reportedly has several sensors to detect medical- and fitness-related stats about the wearer.
Testing the device on people that have to stay fit for a living could be the perfect group of people to test on. Dustin Brown of the Los Angeles Kings and another player from the Boston Red Sox is also involved with the testing.
The athletes have signed a non-disclosure agreement regarding the existence of the product. The iWatch is also expected to be aesthetic in design, which is why Apple may have hired fashion executives like Pan Deneve (Yves. St. Laurent) and Angela Ahrendts from Burberry.
Deneve and Ahrendts are involved in the marketing for selling fashion-related gadgets at Apple stores. It is believed that the iWatch is waiting for FDA approval and is expected to launch in October.
