Sprint Corporation (S) adds 28 new LTE markets and 3 Spark markets

Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) made several network announcements this morning at a press conference in Chicago. Sprint has added more LTE, more Spark, and more HD voice capabilities to additional cities. The 28 markets were not listed individually, but there were expansions in Seattle, Cleveland, and San Jose.

Sprint brought its LTE coverage count to 471 cities today. Sprint plans to cover 250 million people with its LTE network by mid-year, which is up from 225 million. Sprint Spark added some cities like St. Louis, Missouri; Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and Greensboro, North Carolina.

Sprint announced in relation to the Spark expansion that the deployment of 8T8R radio equipment would soon start to take advantage of the 2.5GHz spectrum that Sprint acquired from Clearwire.

The biggest announcement was about nationwide availability of HD voice. Sprint currently supports 28 HD Voice-ready postpaid phones and 33 prepaid ones. S

print also announced international WiFi calling with support for more than 100 countries. Sprint is offering new subscribers or current subscribers adding a new line with 30 days to try the network.

If you are not satisfied, Sprint will refund the cost of your device and waive service activation charges within the first 30 days of your contract.

The guarantee program starts on June 27th.
