Webydo raises $7 million in funding
Webydo is a software-as-a-service startup that gives web designers tools to avoid traditional website creation that involves a lot of manual coding by converting their designs into a hosted HTML5 website.
Webydo has raised $7 million in Series B funding. This round of funding was led by crowd-funding VC platform OurCrowd with participation from Magna Capital Partners and several unnamed strategic investors from the U.S. and U.K.
This new round of funding brings the total funding to $9.7 million. Webydo has around 93,000 active designers that use its platform. Thousands more are being added every week.
Over 335,000 websites have been created with Webydo’s tools thus far, which is up from 50,000 from April 2013. Webydo runs off of a freemium model. It has built-in drag-and-drop website creation tools that are free to use, but the designer pays a hosting fee once they hit publish to turn their web design into an active website.
The pricing starts at $9 per month for one website with 3GB of storage and rises to $85 per month for 250 websites and unlimited storage. Webydo will be using the funding to expand the feature-set of its software.
