Facebook Inc (FB): More teenagers are using the social network
Teenagers may not be leaving Facebook after all. During a Q3 2013 earnings report, Facebook CFO David Ebersman acknowledged that the company saw a decrease in daily users among younger teenagers. However, there is a new survey from Forrester Research that shows that youth are starting to increase usage. Of the survey’s 4,517 respondents, around half were between 12 and 17.
They said that they were using Facebook more than they were a year ago. The study shows that Facebook’s adoption among youth is vastly higher than every other social network except YouTube. Around 28% of teens use Facebook all the time. This is a higher percentage of constant usage than that of any other social network.
Forrester researchers Nate Elliott and Gina Fleming predict that younger teens will start using Facebook even more once they have their own cellphones. After Facebook, teenagers used Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Vine, and WhatsApp the most.
