Facebook hit 1 billion World Cup posts, comments, and likes
It is World Cup fever on Facebook! Facebook users are talking about their goals, dives, plays and injuries constantly. Facebook announced today that the total interactions related to the World Cup have surpassed the 1 billion market. The figure includes posts between June 12 and June 29th.
“Facebook generally sees a large amount of conversation around sporting events, but the World Cup has proven to be a unique moment,” said Facebook in a statement. “Facebook’s data editors have never measured an event — sports or otherwise — that has topped a billion interactions.”
In related news, Twitter said that the match between Brazil and Chile was the most tweeted real-time event ever.
