Apple Inc. (AAPL) names Sue Wagner as a board of director
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has announced that former VP of marketing and board member Bill Campbell is leaving the company to retire. He will be replaced by BlackRock founding partner and director Susan L. Wagner.
“Sue is a pioneer in the financial industry and we are excited to welcome her to Apple’s board of directors,” stated Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We believe her strong experience, especially in M&A and building a global business across both developed and emerging markets, will be extremely valuable as Apple continues to grow around the world.”
Campbell served as a board member since Steve Jobs returned to the company in 1997. Campbell joined Apple as the VP of Marketing in 1983. Campbell is the longest serving board member in the company history next to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and Apple’s second CEO Mike Markkula.
Wagner co-founded BlackRock in 1988 and it is now one of the most successful asset management companies. She will continue to serve on the board of directors at BlackRock, DSP BlackRock (India), Swiss Re, Wellesley College and Hackley School.
