Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) may be acquiring security software firm ArcSight for $1.5 billion. Based on ArcSight’s 34.6 million shares, this values the company at $43.34 per share. This is a 23% premium to the stock’s closing price on Friday.

Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) decided to back out of an acquisition deal of cloud data storage company 3PAR after there was a bidding war with Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ). Dell said that they will not increase their $2 billion proposal for 3PAR. As part of the deal, Dell is entitled to a $72 million break-up fee from 3PAR.

Dell has acquired 3PAR, a data storage company for $1.15 billion in cash. This is an 86.5% premium of 3PAR’s closing share price on Friday. Dell has been pushing for their cloud capability product line in order to stay competitive with IBM and HP.
