I give Aaron Sorkin credit for being able to take a story that did not sound interesting on paper and turned it into an Academy Award winning movie about Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg called “The Social Network.” Now Sorkin is strongly considering screenwriting a movie about the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

“Sony has asked me to write the movie and it’s something I’m strongly considering,” stated Sorkin at the P.S. Arts Express Yourself 2011 event in Santa Monica. Sony had acquired the rights to Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of Steve Jobs.

“Right now I’m just in the thinking-about-it stages,” Sorkin added. “It’s a really big movie and it’s going to be a great movie no matter who writes it.” Currently the only research that Sorkin has done so far is reading Isaacson’s book.

Last night The Social Network movie won 4 Golden Globe awards at the 68th annual Golden Globe awards last night. David Fincher won an award for the best director, Aaron Sorkin won for best screenplay, Trent Reznor and Atticus Rose won awards for scoring the music, and the movie won Best Picture.

The movie opened when Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) and Erica Albright (played by Rooney Mara) were talking about Finals Clubs. Erica broke up with Mark in the opening scene by saying:

“You are probably going to be a very successful computer person. But you’re going to go through life thinking that girls don’t like you because you’re a nerd. And I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that that won’t be true. It’ll be because you’re an asshole.”

While the screenplay writer Aaron Sorkin was on stage at the Golden Globe awards, he did not want people to think of Mark Zuckerberg as an asshole so he said:

“I wanted to say to Mark Zuckerberg, if you’re watching tonight, Rooney Mara’s character makes a prediction at the beginning of the movie, she was wrong. You turned out to be a great entrepreneur, a visionary and an altruist.”

Critics have been giving the movie rave reviews and one critic even compared it to Rosebud. Sony had a strong marketing campaign for the movie, which helped a lot. Rory Bruer, Sony head of distribution expects the movie to bring in about $100 million. [TechCrunch]

The movie about Facebook that is being directed by David Fincher and published by Columbia Pictures is slated to hit theaters on October 15, 2010. The movie was written by Aaron Sorkin and stars Jesse Eisenberg (pictured), Justin Timberlake, Joe Mazzello, and Andrew Garfield. Eisenberg will be playing Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Justin Timberlake will be playing Napster co-founder and former Facebook advisor Sean Parker. Andrew Garfield is playing Eduardo Saverin, a Facebook co-founder who ended up quitting as a disagreement with Zuckerberg over money.

I haven’t yet read the book that the movie is based on, but I think it would be interesting if they also include the three people that Zuckerberg supposedly stole code from: Tyler Winklevoss, Cameron Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra. Supposedly those three individuals made $65 million as part of a settlement with their company ConnectU and Facebook this past February.

The Social Network movie is based on the book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich. David Fincher, the Director of Fight Club will be directing The Social Network. Supposedly the script of the movie is actually really good in case some of you out there are worried about whether the movie will actually be worth watching.

Even though the movie is based on Zuckerberg’s life, the Facebook CEO never gave his input. As a matter of fact, none of the Facebook employees were allowed to give any input to the movie makers.

David Fincher was a movie director for Fight Club, Se7en, and Panic Room. Now he is being considered to direct a movie that revolves around the growth of Facebook and the life of Mark Zuckerberg. The working title of the movie is called “The Social Network” and Columbia Pictures is in advanced talks with Fincher.

The movie will start with Zuckerberg’s creation of the social network while at Harvard University back in 2004 to the point where it has over 200 million users today.

Scott Rudin and Michael De Luca would be the producers. Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti may also be involved. The author of the script is Aaron Sorkin. Columbia hopes to begin production later this year. Another rumor about the movie is that Michael Cera and Shia LaBeouf are being looked at to play the role of Mark Zuckerberg.
