id Software is an American video game company that is based in Texas. The company was founded in 1991 by four former employees at computer company Softdisk. John Carmack, John Romero, Tom Hall, and Adrian Carmack founded id Software in 1991. ZeniMax Media acquired id Software in June 2009. The company’s history is now available as a YouTube documentary.
