MIH Group/Naspers, one of Africa’s biggest media companies has acquired a majority stake in Afrigator. Afrigator is a social media company that aggregates videocasts, podcasts, blogs, news sites, etc. for sites in Africa. The social media information is then categorized by countries and content type by Afrigator.

Afrigator has been growing 25% every month and was listed #20 of the top 31 non-U.S. startups to watch worldwide by Business 2.0. Charl Norman of Bandwidth Blog broke the news about the acquisition.

“We are thrilled to have MIH and the broader Naspers group as partners in taking Afrigator to the next level and beyond”, stated Justin Hartman, co-founder and MD of Afrigator.

The news was also made official on the Afrigator blog. Lester Hein has also joined as the Product Manager of Afrigator.
